Located on the Amador Causeway in Panama City, the Biomuseo is a natural history museum designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and completed in 2014—his first project in Latin America. Conceived in 1999 and opened on October 2, 2014, the museum explores Panama's distinctive natural and cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on how the geologically recent formation of the isthmus shaped the ecology of the Western Hemisphere. Its galleries examine the profound global impact of the isthmus's rise while highlighting the role of humans in the contemporary world.
