Housed in a former military arsenal in Dresden's Albertstadt district, the Bundeswehr Military History Museum is the official museum of Germany's armed forces and a major institution for military history in the country. Originally built in 1961, the structure underwent a radical transformation and reopened in 2011 following extensive renovation. Designed by architects Holzer Kobler Architekturen, HG Merz, and Daniel Libeskind, the building exemplifies deconstructivism through its striking architectural intervention. The museum's contemporary approach emphasizes human experiences during warfare alongside the historical development of German military technology, representing a deliberate shift in how the institution presents its subject matter. Designated as a Kulturdenkmal (cultural monument), it has become an important site for understanding military history through a modern interpretive lens.
