Bürresheim Castle stands northwest of Mayen in the Eifel mountains of Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, built dramatically on rock above the Nette river. This medieval fortress, constructed in the Romanesque style, is one of only three castles in the Eifel region to have survived intact through the centuries—alongside Eltz and Lissingen castles. Inhabited continuously until 1921, the castle now functions as a museum operated by the General Directorate for Cultural Heritage Rhineland-Palatinate, offering visitors a rare glimpse of a fully preserved medieval stronghold.
