The Euryalus Fortress, situated on the hill of Epipolae near Syracuse in Sicily, was the crucial defensive stronghold of the ancient Greek city. Positioned at approximately 120 metres elevation and roughly 7 kilometres northwest of Syracuse, the fortress occupied the highest point of Epipolae, making it the key fortification in the city's defensive system during antiquity. Today it functions as an archaeological park and museum complex, preserving both the military architecture and heritage of Magna Graecia, and holds status as Italian national heritage.
