The New Navarino Fortress is an Ottoman fortification situated near Pylos in southwestern Greece, guarding the southern entrance to the Bay of Pylos. Built in Ottoman architectural style, it stands in strategic counterpoint to the 13th-century Old Navarino castle (constructed by Crusaders of the Principality of Achaea) that commands the bay's northern entrance. Together, these two fortifications controlled access to one of Greece's most important natural harbors. Today the site is protected as an archaeological site.
