Castillo de Colomares, erected near Benalmádena in Spain between 1987 and 1994, is a monumental castle dedicated to Christopher Columbus and his voyages. Built over seven years by Dr. Esteban Martín Martín with two masons using brick, stone, and cement, the structure spans 1,500 square meters, making it the world's largest monument to the explorer. Despite its grand scale, the castle houses a notable counterpoint: the world's smallest church, occupying merely 1.96 square meters. The architecture blends Gothic, Moorish Revival, Byzantine, and Romanesque styles, creating an eclectic visual narrative of Columbus's discovery of America expressed through its unconventional stonework and design.
