Cathedral Plaza is a 75-meter-tall office skyscraper in Bucharest, Romania, situated near the Saint Joseph Cathedral. Completed in 2010, the 19-story structure encompasses 23,000 square meters of floor space but has never opened to the public. The building became mired in legal controversy after it was deemed to lack proper permits; a 2011 court order called for its demolition, formalized in 2022, yet the structure still stands. The European Court of Human Rights intervened, ruling that the building's administrative regularization takes precedence over demolition, obliging Romanian authorities to balance the rights of its owner, Millennium, against competing claims from the Architects' Board of Romania.
