The Central Synagogue of Sofia, completed in 1909, is a Moorish Revival structure designed by Friedrich Grünanger and located in Sofia, Bulgaria. The largest synagogue in Southeastern Europe and the third-largest on the continent, it serves a Romaniote Orthodox Jewish congregation. Despite its monumental scale, the building now hosts only 50 to 60 worshippers on a typical service day, a decline resulting from the migration of Bulgaria's Jewish population to Israel and secularization among those who remained. It remains one of only two active synagogues in Bulgaria.
