The Great Synagogue of Florence, located at Via Luigi Carlo Farini in Tuscany, is an Orthodox Jewish congregation synagogue designed by Marco Treves in the Italian and Moorish Revival styles and completed in 1882. One of the largest synagogues in south-central Europe, it stands as one of the most significant Jewish houses of worship built during the era of Jewish emancipation in nineteenth-century Europe, following the Jewish communities of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany's attainment of emancipation in 1848. The synagogue now houses the Jewish Museum of Florence within its walls.
