The Great Synagogue of Lyon, located on the Quai Tilsitt in the 2nd arrondissement, is an Orthodox Jewish synagogue built between 1863 and 1864 by architect Abraham Hirsch. Designed in the Byzantine Revival style, the building served as the main synagogue for the city's Ashkenazi congregation. The structure was designated a monument historique in 1984 and underwent renovation in 2014, preserving its nineteenth-century architectural character within Lyon's urban landscape.
