The Château de Malmaison, situated near the left bank of the Seine about 15 kilometres west of Paris in Rueil-Malmaison, is a French château that served as a residence of Empress Joséphine de Beauharnais and functioned as headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802. Built in 1700 and redesigned in the Empire style by architects Charles Percier Bassant and Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine, it was also Napoleon's final residence in France following the Hundred Days in 1815. Now a museum, the château is listed in the general inventory of French cultural heritage.
