The Chawk Mosque, located within the Hazarduari Palace complex at Murshidabad in West Bengal, was founded in 1767 by Munny Begum, wife of Nawab Mir Zafar, on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. Built in Islamic architectural style, it stands on a site previously occupied by the "Chahel Sutan," a forty-pillared audience hall constructed by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan. The mosque retains vestiges of Murshidabad's era of nawabi rule and continues to reflect the grandeur of that period.
