Chester Castle, located in the city of Chester, Cheshire, stands on a commanding eminence overlooking the River Dee at the southwest edge of the medieval city walls. Originally built in Norman architecture from 1069, the castle complex now comprises both medieval remains and neoclassical structures designed by Thomas Harrison and constructed between 1788 and 1813. Today, portions of Harrison's neoclassical buildings serve as a Crown Court and military museum, while the site attracts visitors interested in both its architectural heritage and historical significance.
