Chojnik Castle, a Gothic stronghold erected in 1292, crowns a 627-meter peak above Sobieszów in the Jelenia Góra valley of southwestern Poland. Built during the era of the Silesian Piasts, the fortress remained largely under the control of the Schaffgotsch noble family throughout its history. Now semi-ruined and situated within Karkonosze National Park, the castle has been adapted into a major tourist destination, incorporating a hotel and restaurant within its surviving structures.
