Located in Grinnell, Iowa, the Christian Science Society is a Carpenter Gothic structure originally built as a residence before being converted into a church. The building, also known as the Charles H. Spencer House and once serving as the First Church of Christ, Scientist, exemplifies the modest yet elegant wood-frame aesthetic characteristic of Carpenter Gothic design. Added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 25, 1980, it represents an important example of religious adaptive reuse in Iowa's architectural heritage.
