Perched dramatically on a cliff above Kaneo Beach overlooking Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia, the Church of St. John at Kaneo is a Byzantine Orthodox structure dedicated to John of Patmos. Built of brick in the characteristic Byzantine style, the church likely dates to the 13th century, though its exact construction date remains uncertain; historical documents confirm its existence before 1447. The building's interior was enriched by frescoes in its dome, which came to light during restoration work undertaken in 1964. Today it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site within Ohrid's protected ensemble, a testament to the region's rich Orthodox heritage.
