Located in Jacksonville's Northbank district along the St. Johns River, the CSX Transportation Building is a 251-foot International Style high-rise completed in 1960. Designed by Bob Lee of KBJ Architects, the building exemplifies mid-century modern design principles. Originally constructed as the headquarters for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad—which relocated its corporate operations to Jacksonville in 1956, choosing the city over Savannah and Charleston—the structure has since served successive railroad companies following industry mergers, and currently houses CSX Corporation. The building holds LEED certification and remains a notable example of its architectural era.
