VyStar Tower, formerly known as the SunTrust Tower, stands 357 feet tall in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, at the northwest corner of Independent Drive and Laura Street. Completed in 1989, this postmodern skyscraper was designed by the Jacksonville firm KBJ Architects and ranks as the city's sixth tallest building. Originally developed as the American Heritage Life Building and later the Humana Building, it became the headquarters of SunTrust before VyStar Credit Union, Florida's second largest credit union, purchased the building in late 2019. VyStar subsequently installed a prominent sign in 2019 and added distinctive electric blue LED edge lighting to the top tiers in 2020, as part of a broader downtown campus initiative that includes the adjacent 100 W. Bay building and was designed to accommodate over 1,000 relocated employees.
