Constructed in Decorah, Iowa, as a collaborative effort between municipal government and the federal Works Progress Administration during the Depression era, this Municipal Bathhouse and Swimming Pool exemplifies Streamline Moderne design. Edward Novak of the local Charles Altfillisch architectural firm designed the facility, blending Art Moderne and International Style influences. The project relied on donated land from Luther College and local benefactors, while the Fred Carlson Company of Decorah oversaw construction, employing unemployed laborers from the community. Recognized as Iowa's sole surviving WPA-era building of comparable style and significance, the bathhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
