Located in Seoul's fashion district of Dongdaemun, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza is a neo-futuristic landmark designed by Zaha Hadid and Samoo, completed in 2014. The structure's defining feature is its distinctive "powerful, curving forms of elongated structures," characteristic of Hadid's architectural vocabulary. The complex functions as a multifaceted urban development, incorporating large global exhibition spaces, futuristic retail stores, and a walkable park on its roofs, alongside restored portions of the historic Seoul fortress. The DDP was instrumental in Seoul's designation as the World Design Capital in 2010 and has become both a major cultural hub and popular tourist destination. The building is directly connected to the Seoul subway system via Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station on lines 2, 4, and 5.
