Built in 1887 in the Oak Hill village of Newton, Massachusetts, the Dr. Henry Jacob Bigelow House represents one of the final private residences designed by the renowned American architect Henry Hobson Richardson. Executed in the Shingle style characteristic of Richardson's residential work, the house at 72–80 Ober Road exemplifies the architect's approach to domestic architecture during the late nineteenth century. The building gained additional historical significance when it was converted into condominiums during the 1980s as part of the PBS program *This Old House*. It was recognized as a historic resource and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
