The Edificio Internacional de Capitalización, a streamline moderne office tower completed in 1943, stood as Mexico's tallest building at eighteen stories and sixty-five meters in downtown Mexico City until its height was surpassed in 1946. Damaged during the September 1985 earthquake, the structure was progressively dismantled between 1990 and 1991, reduced from its original form to just three floors. The remaining portion was repurposed in 1995 as FrikiPlaza, a retail shopping center selling electronics, manga, video games, and Asian merchandise, where fragments of the original building—including railings and tiles—remain visible within the modernized commercial space.
