Elm Court, a former Vanderbilt mansion straddling the town line between Lenox and Stockbridge in Massachusetts's Berkshire County, stands as the largest Shingle style house in the United States, with 106 rooms. Built as a summer residence for William Douglas Sloane and Emily Thorn Vanderbilt, the estate was designed by the renowned architectural firm Peabody and Stearns, with landscape design by Frederick Law Olmsted. Blending Tudor Revival and Shingle style elements, the house exemplifies the grandeur of Gilded Age country estates. Until 2012, it operated as a hotel run by descendants of the original owners. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
