Located on the east side of Davenport, Iowa, the William Holbrook House is a 2½-story residence built for a furniture and carpeting dealer. The building exemplifies a transitional moment between Queen Anne and Shingle styles, combining the former's signature irregular plan, projecting pavilions, hipped roof, and corner tower with the latter's distinctive exterior treatment—notably its carefully preserved clapboard siding, ornamental porch millwork, and decorative shingle work. The survival of these exterior embellishments, largely removed from comparable Davenport houses in subsequent renovations, distinguishes this structure as a particularly intact example of late 19th-century domestic architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
