The Emil J. Oberhoffer House is a Prairie School residence in Lakeville, Minnesota, overlooking Orchard Lake, designed by architect Paul Haugen around 1913. Haugen, who worked for the prominent firm Purcell & Elmslie, created this home during a brief independent period after moving to Minneapolis, where he absorbed the Prairie School aesthetic. Built for Emil Oberhoffer, founder and first conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, the house later became the home of Patty Berg's parents. The residence exemplifies the Prairie School style characteristic of Haugen's regional practice, which included several other residential and institutional commissions in the Minneapolis area.
