The Federation Tower is a postmodern complex of two supertall skyscrapers located in Moscow's Presnensky District within the Moscow International Business Center. Designed by German-Russian engineer Sergei Tchoban and German professor Peter Schweger, the twin towers—named Vostok (East) and Zapad (West)—rise from a shared podium. Vostok, the taller of the pair at 374 meters, is Europe's second-highest building and Moscow's tallest structure; its 97 stories were completed in December 2017 after construction resumed following the 2008 financial crisis. The shorter Zapad, completed in 2008, reaches 242 meters across 63 stories. Originally conceived in 2005, the complex was designed to culminate in a 450-meter spire with an observation deck, though this was ultimately dismantled. The complex is owned by AEON Corporation, a Russian private investment group.
