Built in 1892 in Geneva, Nebraska, the Fillmore County Courthouse exemplifies the Richardsonian Romanesque style through its bold massing and ornamental detail. Designed by George E. McDonald and constructed by L. F. Pardue at a cost of $46,176.55, the building was partly modeled after the Gage County Courthouse. A prominent tower, fitted in 1909 with clocks on each side designed by W. P. McCall, anchors the composition. McDonald drew on his experience with courthouses across the Midwest, having also designed similar structures in Kansas and Missouri. The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1978.
