The First Baptist Church in Waterboro, Maine, stands at the corner of West and Federal Streets as a brick and timber structure bridging two architectural eras. Constructed in 1803–04 as a Federal-period meetinghouse, the building was substantially altered in 1849 to reflect the Greek Revival style then fashionable in New England, yet it preserves notable characteristics of its original Federal-era design. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, the church—locally known as the Old Corner Church—exemplifies the gradual stylistic evolution of American religious architecture through the nineteenth century.
