Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1909, the Frank J. Baker House in Wilmette, Illinois exemplifies the Prairie School style at a pivotal moment in the architect's career. The 4,800-square-foot residence explores Wright's experimental approach to two-story construction and the T-shaped floor plan—a design strategy he employed across several commissions, notably the Isabel Roberts House. True to Prairie aesthetics, the building emphasizes strong horizontal lines, a low-pitched roof, and deeply projected overhangs. The home's most distinctive interior feature is its two-story living room, which showcases a brick fireplace, sloped ceiling, and leaded glass windows along the north wall; this space remains one of the few surviving examples of Wright's T-shaped plan realized at full height. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, the house underwent major restoration beginning in 2020.
