Located at 2410 Hulett Road in Okemos, Michigan, the Goetsch–Winckler House is a single-story residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and completed in 1940 for art professors Alma Goetsch and Kathrine Winckler. An early example of Wright's Usonian homes, the house exemplifies his philosophy of organic, human-scaled architecture. The structure stretches in a linear east-southeast to west-northwest orientation, composed of offset rectangular spaces accessed via a southeastern carport, with facades of brick, boards and battens punctuated by clerestory windows, French doors, and casement windows. Two levels of overhanging flat roofs with pronounced eaves crown the design. The spare interior—just 1,400 square feet—centers on an open-plan living–dining room, with bedrooms and bathroom to the northwest, kitchen to the southeast, and a small cellar, all outfitted with Wright-designed built-in furniture and finished in redwood, brick, plywood, concrete, and fir. A lanai adjoins the western corner. Though originally conceived for a failed 1938 cooperative development called Usonia II, the house stands today as a National Register listing, restored by the Seidman family beginning in 2007.
