Designed by Archibald Ponton and William Venn Gough and completed in 1869, the Granary stands on Welsh Back in Bristol as the finest surviving example of the city's Byzantine Revival architectural tradition. Originally built as a commercial granary—also known as Wait and James' Granary—the structure's exuberant Byzantine detailing has ensured its preservation as a Grade II* listed building and recognized landmark within the City and Queen Square Conservation Area. The building has since been adapted for contemporary use, serving as both a nightclub and residential apartments while retaining its distinctive Victorian-era character.
