The Great Mosque of Touba, in Touba, Senegal, is a monumental Islamic structure founded by Ahmadou Bamba in 1887 and completed in 1963. Rising 86.8 meters, it stands as the largest building in the city and was, until the 2019 completion of the Massalikoul Djinane Mosque, among Africa's largest mosques, accommodating 7,000 worshipers. Bamba, who died in 1927, was interred within the building, which has since remained under his family's stewardship. The mosque serves as the spiritual home of the Mouride Brotherhood, a Sufi order, and hosts the Grand Magal of Touba, an important pilgrimage site. Its Arabic and Islamic architectural style reflects its religious significance.
