Grey Gardens is a 14-room Shingle style house built in 1897 in the Georgica Pond neighborhood of East Hampton, New York, designed by architect Joseph Greenleaf Thorp. The house became widely known through the 1975 documentary of the same name, which chronicled the lives of Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale, who resided there from 1952 to 1977 as part of the Beale family's occupation of the property from 1924 to 1979. The documentary's cultural impact spawned a 2006 Broadway musical, a 2009 television movie, and other adaptations. Following the Beales' era, the house passed to Ben Bradlee and Sally Quinn, who extensively restored it between 1979 and 2014, after which fashion designer and entrepreneur Liz Lange became its owner.
