Harkness Tower rises at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, as part of the Collegiate Gothic Memorial Quadrangle complex designed by James Gamble Rogers and completed in 1922. Named for Charles William Harkness, brother of the university's major benefactor Edward Harkness, the tower exemplifies the Collegiate Gothic style that Rogers employed to create a harmonious academic setting evoking Oxford and Cambridge traditions.
