The Harriet Island Pavilion is a Streamline Moderne park structure situated on Harriet Island in Saint Paul, Minnesota, just across the Mississippi River from the city's downtown. Designed by Clarence W. Wigington, the nation's first black municipal architect, the pavilion was renamed in his honor following a restoration in 2000. The island itself carries the name of Harriet Bishop, a Vermont-born Baptist school teacher who arrived in Saint Paul in 1847, founded the city's first school, and championed the temperance movement while educating children of varied ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
