The Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin's Westend district is the world's oldest self-contained broadcasting centre, designed by Hans Poelzig following his 1929 competition victory. Completed in 1930, this New Objectivity landmark features three large centrally positioned broadcasting spaces ingeniously insulated from street noise by surrounding office wings—a functional design that has made it enduringly efficient for radio production. Today the building serves as the main facility for local broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), supporting its Inforadio, Kulturradio, and Radio Berlin 88.8 channels. The expansive studios also host concerts, making it both a working broadcasting house and occasional performance venue.
