Radiohuset, the former headquarters of Denmark's national broadcaster DR, stands on Rosenørns Allé in Frederiksberg as a landmark of modernist ambition. Designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen and inaugurated in 1945, the building exemplifies Functionalist principles in its clean, purposeful lines. The complex expanded in 1958 and again in 1972, accommodating the broadcaster's growing operations until DR relocated to the new DR Byen facility in 2006. Today the building complex serves as home to the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Museum of Music, while retaining its original concert hall. Listed as a heritage monument by Denmark's Kulturstyrelsen in 1994, Radiohuset remains a significant example of mid-twentieth-century Danish design.
