The Hearthstone Historic House Museum in Appleton, Wisconsin is a Queen Anne–style brick residence designed by architect William Waters and completed in 1881. The house achieved historical prominence on September 30, 1882, when it became the first residence in the United States to be powered by electricity from a centrally located hydroelectric station using the Edison system. Built originally as the home of Henry James Rogers, a paper company executive and entrepreneur, the house has since been converted into a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 2, 1974, and is also registered in the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places.
