The Hochhaus an der Weberwiese, a residential tower in Berlin's Friedrichshain district, stands as a pioneering example of socialist classicism in East Germany. Built in 1952 as part of post-war reconstruction efforts, the 35-meter structure was designed by architect Hermann Henselmann and represents the first realization of this architectural style in the German Democratic Republic. Characterized by Stalinist design principles, the building bears a quotation from Bertolt Brecht above its main entrance, symbolizing the cultural values of the early East German state. Today it is recognized as a Kulturdenkmal, a protected cultural monument.
