Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, Massachusetts, completed in 1906, was the first church built for a Greek Orthodox congregation in the United States. Designed in Byzantine Revival style, the structure occupies 62 Lewis Street in The Acre, Lowell's downtown neighborhood with a large Eastern Orthodox population. The church is distinguished by its golden dome, mosaics, and iconography, and serves under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America through the Metropolis of Boston. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Archbishop Iakovos of America, who led the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese from 1959 to 1996, was ordained as a priest at Holy Trinity on June 16, 1940.
