The Hotel del Coronado is a beachfront Victorian resort in Coronado, California, across San Diego Bay from San Diego, designed by Reid & Reid with landscape work by Katherine Olivia Sessions. Built in 1888, it opened as the world's largest resort hotel and remains a rare surviving example of an American wooden Victorian beach resort. The structure ranks as the second-largest wooden building in the United States. Designated a California Historical Landmark in 1970 and a National Historic Landmark in 1977, the hotel has accommodated presidents, royalty, and celebrities throughout its history while appearing in numerous films and books. It was recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Hotels of America program in 2018.
