The house at 36 Forest Street in Hartford, Connecticut, is a late 19th-century Shingle Style structure that survives largely intact despite significant neighborhood change. Built on land originally held by a local insurance company in the affluent Nook Farm area, the wooden house was acquired by one of the wealthy families that settled the nearby Asylum Hill neighborhood. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, it remains one of the few surviving 19th-century residences on Forest Street, where most of its contemporaries have been demolished to make way for apartment buildings. The house is currently divided into rental apartments.
