Built in 1885–1886 as the residence of Boston architect Robert Pote Wait, the House at 6 Adams Street in Wakefield, Massachusetts exemplifies the shingle style architecture that flourished in late nineteenth-century New England. Designed by Wait himself, the house stands as one of the finest local examples of the style, with its characteristic shingled exterior and picturesque massing. The structure was recognized for its architectural significance when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
