Built in 1874, the Hubbardston Public Library occupies a distinctive Second Empire and Italianate brick structure designed by architect Elbridge Boyden at 7 Main Street in Hubbardston, Massachusetts. The building, which also houses the town offices, was made possible through the generosity of Jonas G. Clark, a Hubbardston native and founder of Worcester's Clark University, who provided both construction grants and a significant portion of the library's early collection. Long recognized as one of the town's most architecturally significant buildings, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 and continues to serve the community with materials, services, Internet access, and participation in the CWMARS resource-sharing catalog.
