Located in Puebla, Mexico, the International Museum of the Baroque is a museum of Baroque art designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito and completed in 2016. Originally conceived as a venue for the conservation, research, and dissemination of Baroque artistic, cultural, scientific, and technological expressions—encompassing architecture, painting, sculpture, and literature—the museum faced significant controversy regarding the provenance of its collection and budgetary transparency. After reopening under new state administration in 2019 with the exhibition "New Rites: Saints, Mourning, and Deities" by Mexican artist Mauro Terán, it established itself as a platform for both Baroque heritage and contemporary artistic dialogue.
