The Japon Louvre Sculpture Museum opened in 1987 in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, and was designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa. Housed within a facility managed by the Shingon temple Daikannon-ji (established in 1982), the museum holds approximately 1,300 replicas of celebrated sculptures, authorized through an agreement with the Louvre's then director Hubert Landais. The collection includes casts of iconic works such as the Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace, Apollo Belvedere, Townley Discobolus, and the Bust of Nefertiti, as well as Michelangelo's Moses, offering visitors access to reproductions of masterpieces spanning classical antiquity to the Renaissance.
