The John L. Etzel House in Clear Lake, Iowa, is a late Victorian eclectic residence completed in 1894 by local banker Frank Rogers. The two-story frame structure features an irregular plan with a cantilevered second story on its main façade, supported by four ornate brackets, and a gabled front porch extending beyond the house's side, embellished with turned posts and gingerbread ornamentation. Built for John L. Etzel, a prominent merchant, financier, and postmaster who served as president of both the Cerro Gordo State Bank and Clear Lake Electric Light and Power Company, the house was one of seven similar residences constructed by Rogers between 1890 and 1910. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, the house was restored in 1990 by subsequent owners who returned its porches and exterior to their original appearance.
