The John Souther House, located at 43 Fairmont Street in Newton, Massachusetts, is a 2½-story wood-frame residence built circa 1883 that exemplifies high-style Queen Anne Victorian design. Its distinctive form features varied gable dormers, projecting sections, a turret, and rounded wall sections that enliven an essentially rectangular plan. Decoratively cut shingles texture the exterior walls, while an ornately decorated porch enhances the façade. A period carriage house accompanies the property. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
