The Joseph L. Stone House, located at 77 Temple Street in Newton, Massachusetts, is a 2½-story Queen Anne residence built in 1881 by banker Joseph L. Stone. The house features a brick first floor and wood frame upper stories with a complex three-part façade: a projecting gabled section on the left, a rounded two-story tower with an octagonal roof on the right, and a recessed second-floor porch with a projecting gabled dormer at center. Decorative shingle work adorns the walls, while the porch and porte-cochere display elaborate ornamentation characteristic of the style. The accompanying carriage barn at 85 Temple Street, now residential, employs similar styling. Both buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
