Located in Newport, Delaware, the Joseph Tatnall House is a 2½-story Georgian brick dwelling with a distinctive five-bay gambrel roof. The two easternmost bays date to approximately 1750, while the remaining three bays were added later in the 18th century, creating a structure built in stages across the colonial period. Around 1915, a 1½-story gambrel-roofed ell and smaller one-story wings were added when the Krebs Pigments and Chemical Company converted the house for use as administrative offices during a major expansion of its industrial facilities. Though commonly known as the Oliver Evans House after the noted Newport figure (1755–1819), there is no documented historical connection between Evans and the property. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
